Meditation Centre built for the Shantigiri Ashram based in Trivandrum, established over 50 years ago. It is an organisation that believes in secular spirituality to revitalize the social, economic and cultural welfare of its patrons.
The centre was designed around the meditation halls. These halls are flexible in size to suit different capacities. Square-shaped modules form the basis of organization, which is also symbolic of stability, community, and divinity.
Light provides all the calm and purity required to meditate. This has been carefully considered while designing the centre, so that every fenestration could be celebrated by the architect in its form, position, and design.
The rectangular form of the plot has been further emphasized by creating a rectilinear mass. The column-free meditation space is marked only by the strategically penetrating light, which makes for a serene and almost heavenly reflection space.
