The Young Men’s Christian Association is a worldwide organisation founded in 1844. It aims to put Christian principles into practice by developing a healthy “body, mind and spirit”.
The firm has been associated with YMCA and its sister concern YWCA for more than a decade, during which time the Founding Architect was made chief architect of the organization for the capital state.
YMCA needed to develop a property in Greater Noida that was 6 acres. This was a campus development project that would consist of a hostel block, programme centre and state of the art sport facilities like swimming pools, tennis courts, football fields, etc. The entrance, between the programme centre and the hostel block, is defined by landscaped porticos to these two buildings, one with a fountain and the other with a space frame canopy. All the building blocks are connected to each other through rich landscape features. The blocks were designed with carefully carved out masses whose projections and recesses create an interesting facade. The brick cladding ties it all together.
